Microblade Pocket Knife / WESN
The Microblade is WESN's flagship knife, reduced to roughly the size of a house key: 2.25 inches closed, a 1.5-inch blade, and about an ounce on a keychain. The frame is Grade 5 titanium, the blade is D2 tool-grade steel, and a frame lock holds it open, deployed one-handed by a removable thumb stud running on ceramic bearings. D2 gives it edge retention and toughness well beyond what a knife this small and this affordable usually offers, and a redesigned blade choil makes it easy to sharpen with a standard stone. A deep-carry clip keeps it discreet. WESN, a Detroit EDC brand, built the Microblade around a single idea, availability: small enough to always be there, capable enough to do real cutting when it is.
Design intent
- +Choosing D2 tool-grade steel for a blade this small signals the knife is meant to last and hold an edge rather than be treated as disposable, uncommon at this size and price.
- +A titanium frame lock keeps the knife thin and light while still locking the blade open, and a removable thumb stud on ceramic bearings gives controlled one-handed opening in a keychain-sized tool.
Trade-offs
- -D2 is a tool steel rather than fully stainless; it holds an edge well but needs occasional oiling and drying to avoid spotting, a small upkeep cost for the edge performance.
- -At 2.25 inches closed with a 1.5-inch blade and a short handle, it is built for light, controlled everyday cutting, not heavy or sustained work or anything needing real leverage.
