The Nano Puff is Patagonia's synthetic insulator, and a rare crossover between technical layer and everyday jacket. Its warmth comes from 60-gram PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Eco, a recycled synthetic fill that, unlike down, keeps insulating when damp, held in place by the brick quilting that has become the jacket's signature. Both shell and lining are 100% recycled polyester with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish, so it shrugs off light weather, and the whole thing compresses into its own chest pocket. It works as a standalone jacket in cool weather or a mid-layer under a shell when it turns. It suits the traveller or hiker who wants dependable, packable, wet-tolerant warmth that also passes in town, and accepts that at this weight it is midweight insulation, not a deep-cold layer, and not very breathable when working hard.

Design intent
- +Choosing synthetic PrimaLoft over down is the defining decision: it retains most of its warmth when wet and dries fast, trading down's better warmth-for-weight for reliability in damp, unpredictable conditions, which is what makes it a genuine all-rounder.
- +The construction is built to last and to layer: brick quilting with abrasion-resistant thread stabilises the fill so it does not migrate, keeps bulk low enough to wear under a shell, and the fully recycled shell, lining and insulation with PFAS-free DWR carry Patagonia's environmental position through the whole garment.
Trade-offs
- -At around 14 ounces its warmth is not especially competitive for the weight against modern down or newer active insulation, so it is a versatile midweight layer rather than the warmest or the lightest option.
- -The insulated construction does not breathe well during high exertion, and the light face fabric wets out in sustained rain, so it needs a shell over it once real weather sets in.
