OP-1 Field / Teenage Engineering
The OP-1 Field is Teenage Engineering's portable synthesizer reduced to a single aluminium slab about the thickness of a phone. It is a self-contained studio: synthesizer, sampler, drum machine and a four-track tape recorder, driven by a row of coloured encoders, a velocity-sensitive keyboard and a flush glass display, with a built-in speaker and a 24-hour battery so nothing else is needed to make a finished piece. This generation runs in stereo throughout, adds Bluetooth MIDI and USB-C, an FM radio and even FM broadcasting, and a new speaker with a passive driver for fuller sound.
