Tri-sling Bag [Diamond Ripstop] / Armarex
The Tri-Sling is the first bag from Armarex, a London label, and it is more substantial than the word sling suggests. The name works on two levels: a triangular silhouette, and three ways to wear it, two crossbody positions and over the shoulder. It is cut from diamond ripstop nylon, a woven fabric with a reinforcing grid that stops a snag becoming a tear, given a faint sheen and light padding throughout. At 12.5 litres it holds more than pocket overflow: a padded 15-inch laptop sleeve, a mesh bottle pocket, and smaller pouches on the strap and back panel, closed with YKK hardware. It reads as a one-bag commute or campus carry rather than a minimal EDC pouch, and comes in a small range of colours.
Design intent
- +One strap system gives three carry positions, so the bag adapts to the moment, across the chest, over a shoulder, or round the back, rather than committing to one.
- +Diamond ripstop is chosen for tear resistance at low weight: the heavier grid threads arrest a rip rather than letting it run, which suits a bag meant to stay in daily rotation.
Trade-offs
- -Ripstop nylon has little structure of its own; the bag shapes around its contents and slumps when only part full, unlike a stiffer ballistic or laminate shell.
- -Armarex is a small label with limited stockists, so handling one before buying is harder than with an established brand.
