Zip Pouch Pro / Alpaka
The Zip Pouch Pro sits deliberately between a wallet and a small organiser, and is most useful to people who carry a little gear alongside their cards. The zipped main compartment, divided inside, holds four to twelve cards plus notes, with RFID-blocking material in the shell. What sets it apart are three open slots on the outside, sized to hold upright objects like a pen, a compact torch or a slim multi-tool where they can be reached without unzipping anything. It is built from X-Pac VX21, a laminated sailcloth-derived fabric that resists water and holds its shape, closed with weatherproof YKK AquaGuard zips. At roughly 13 by 8.5cm it works in a pocket, in a bag, or on its own, and comes in several X-Pac colourways.
Design intent
- +The three external slots are left open rather than zipped, a deliberate trade of security for speed: the gear they carry is meant to be grabbed without thought.
- +X-Pac VX21 is dimensionally stable in a way woven nylon is not, so the pouch keeps its shape and protects flat contents instead of slumping around them.
Trade-offs
- -Those open slots retain nothing on their own. Anything narrower than the slot will shift or fall out, so they suit objects with a clip or a snug fit.
- -It is wider than a minimal card wallet. For someone carrying only cards and cash, the extra footprint and the tool slots are capacity they will not use.
