Ti-Single 450 Cup / Snow Peak
The Ti-Single 450 is Snow Peak's titanium cup at its most pared down: a single wall of 0.4mm titanium, around 70 grams, holding 450ml. Made in Tsubame-Sanjo, the metalworking region Snow Peak comes from, it is built for the backcountry but reads just as well on a desk. The single wall is the whole argument. It keeps the cup light and lets you set it straight on a flame to boil water or reheat coffee, which a double-walled, insulated cup cannot do. The handles fold flat against the body for packing and nesting, and the lip is smoothed for drinking. Raw titanium will not taint the taste of what is in it. It suits anyone building a minimal kit who values weight and flame-readiness over keeping a drink warm.
Design intent
- +The single 0.4mm wall is a deliberate trade for weight and flame-readiness: it lets the cup go directly over a burner and keeps it light, which a double-walled insulated cup cannot offer.
- +Folding handles and a smoothed lip let the cup pack flat, nest with a stove and stay comfortable to drink from, so it serves as cup, mug and small pot at once.
Trade-offs
- -Single-wall titanium offers almost no insulation: a hot drink cools quickly and the rim grows hot to hold, the cost of the flame-safe construction.
- -Titanium is expensive for its size, so the cup commands a premium over steel or aluminium of the same capacity.
