The Studio Display is the accessible half of Apple's monitor pair: a 27-inch 5K panel in a single sealed slab of aluminium, sharp enough for everyday Mac work without reaching for reference-grade performance. It resolves to 218 pixels per inch at 600 nits on a 60Hz LCD, and hides what most monitors leave external: a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, a six-speaker system with force-cancelling woofers, and a three-microphone array, all driven by an Apple chip inside. There are no buttons and almost no seams. Where the Studio Display XDR adds mini-LED HDR, 120Hz and wide-gamut reference modes, this model deliberately stops at clean, colour-accurate 5K and costs less than half as much. It suits the coder, writer or general creative who wants Apple sharpness and integration without paying for capability they will not use. Its design has been unchanged since 2022.
