The FRAKTA is the big blue bag, made to haul heavy loads, take rough handling and cost almost nothing. There is no lining, no zip and no internal structure: a single woven polypropylene throughout, now at least 90% recycled, water-resistant and dimensionally stable under load, with reinforced handles in two lengths for the hand or the shoulder. The large size holds 71 litres and carries up to 25kg, then folds flat to almost nothing when empty. Nothing about it pretends to be more than it is, which is the source of its appeal: it is honest to the point of bluntness, and it has become a default object precisely because it makes no claim on attention or care. Rinse it clean and put it away.
Design intent
- The single woven-polypropylene construction is honest to the point of bluntness: it does not absorb liquid, does not pretend to be fabric, and what it is and what it does are the same thing.
- At 71 litres and folding flat, it costs almost nothing to keep ready, so a serious carrying capacity lives in a drawer until it is needed.
Trade-offs
- With no structure the bag conforms entirely to its contents; it offers containment, not protection or organisation.
- Polypropylene does not age gracefully: prolonged UV makes it brittle, and it eventually cracks rather than developing any patina of ownership.
